Talent is the foundation of the enterprise - this is our consistent philosophy! The company has always attached great importance to talent work - the general manager of the company is also the manager of the human resources department. We have always taken "selecting, developing and retaining talents" as our goal.
First of all, we believe that good talents are selected. In selecting talents, we always adhere to the principle of morality first and talent second; In terms of morality, the company is more likely to accept colleagues with high loyalty, honesty and gratitude. In terms of ability, we do not attach importance to such factors as academic qualifications and schools, but the actual working ability. If a colleague's working ability and attitude are very suitable for the company's needs, we will pay attention to them regardless of their education background and school.
A real talent needs a platform to show himself, so we try our best to provide each employee with a suitable position and work environment. At the same time, we also often organize business training and discussion to further improve employees' working ability; Retaining talents is another focus of our talent work: for the real talents in the company, the company will do everything possible to retain them in the company!
Synchronous motors (electric spindles) use permanent magnet rotors. The permanent magnet rotor generates a voltage as it rotates, called back EMF. The magnitude of back EMF increases with speed. The spindle drive has a fixed rated output voltage. When the motor's back EMF exceeds the drive's rated voltage, the drive must apply field weakening to increase speed further—it generates an additional current to counteract the motor's back EMF. The higher the speed, the larger the field weakening current, which increases coil temperature. This is a normal physical phenomenon for high-power, high-speed motors.
For high-precision spindles, slightly higher coil current and temperature are acceptable, as long as they stay within the coil's tolerance. Our design focuses on increasing cooling flow and heat dissipation to remove heat from the coil before it transfers to bearings and other components.
What are the advantages of TDM hydrostatic spindle bearings?
Compared to traditional rolling bearing spindles, hydrostatic bearing spindles can deliver higher power at the same speed. For example, at 120,000 rpm, rolling bearing spindles typically produce around 2kW, while our hydrostatic spindles can reach 6kW. Hydrostatic spindles also offer two orders of magnitude higher rotational accuracy than rolling bearing spindles: typical rolling bearing spindles have ~1μm runout, while our hydrostatic spindles are below 0.05μm.
Compared to air bearing spindles, while maintaining similar rotational accuracy, our spindles have 5-8 times higher rigidity than same-size air bearing spindles, making them ideal for ultra-precision machining.
Compared to other hydrostatic spindles: domestic hydrostatic spindles typically have 0.2-0.3μm accuracy, while our imported ones are below 0.05μm, typically 0.02-0.03μm. Also, currently no other hydrostatic spindle in the world exceeds 100,000 rpm, except TDM. Our hydrostatic spindles can reach up to 250,000 rpm while maintaining accuracy, power, and rigidity.
For ultra-precision machining, TDM hydrostatic spindles are unquestionably the best choice.
(1) TDM SA specializes in high-rigidity, high-precision spindles for hard metal machining. This is completely different from spindles used for processing soft materials like wood, stone, or rubber (which are more common in Italy). Soft material spindles have much lower requirements for rigidity, accuracy, and even reliability, and are correspondingly cheaper.
(2) Compared to other German and Swiss spindles also used for hard metal machining, our biggest advantage is full customization. Even if a customer only needs 1 unit, we can customize it, without significant increase in cost or lead time.
(3) TDM spindles are designed, manufactured, assembled, and tested entirely at our Swiss factory. We use only top-tier global brand components, which ensures the highest quality standards for our spindles and motors.
(4) As a Swiss specialist in high-quality spindles, like Swiss knives and watches, we focus on small-to-medium size (spindle body diameter below 280mm), high-precision, high-reliability products. Very large, heavy-duty spindles are not our strength.
All our spindles have taper bore and end face runout below 1.5μm (European industry standard is 2μm). The combined surface vibration at front and rear bearings does not exceed 1mm/s (industry standard is 1mm/s at each bearing location).
(1) Drain the cooling fluid from the spindle cooling system.
(2) Disconnect the spindle power cable from the machine tool.
(3) Cover the spindle taper with a plastic cap, and plug all other air/fluid fittings.
(4) Coat the surface with grease or anti-rust oil, then wrap with waterproof paper.
(5) Store in a dry, well-ventilated environment.
(6) Check and re-grease regularly.
(7) Before reusing, run a break-in period as required.
