TDM Hydrostatic Spindles

With decades of experience in the design, manufacture, and application of hydrostatic bearings, TDM SA supplies ultra-high-speed, ultra-high-precision hydrostatic bearing electric spindles for customers in demanding precision machining applications. Popular models include: 120,000 rpm / 6 kW, 140,000 rpm / 3.5 kW, 200,000 rpm / 1.7 kW, and 250,000 rpm / 1.2 kW.
Compared to rolling bearing spindles of similar speed and diameter, our hydrostatic spindles offer higher power output (approximately 2-3 times greater), higher precision (high-speed rotational accuracy within 0.1 μm vs. typically around 2 μm for rolling bearing spindles), better vibration damping (fluid bearings provide superior vibration absorption), and longer bearing life (theoretically minimal wear with fluid bearings). Compared to aerostatic bearing spindles of similar speed and size, our hydrostatic spindles offer approximately 5-8 times more power and stiffness. Unlike other manufacturers' hydrostatic spindles, our unique bearing design and cooling system solve the common problem of heat buildup at high speeds, enabling our hydrostatic spindles to exceed 200,000 rpm — while most other manufacturers' hydrostatic spindles are limited to 20,000-30,000 rpm.

Our ultra-high-speed, ultra-precision hydrostatic spindles are ideal for applications demanding the highest machining speeds and quality, such as high-precision micro internal grinding. We also offer medium-to-low-speed hydrostatic spindles for high-precision external cylindrical grinding (grinding wheel spindles, work head spindles, etc.).
